Phase 2
Do you know that when your child or student is assessed using a standardized assessment tool developed in other country, that the child is compared to children from that country, instead of his/her peers in Singapore?
Due to the variety of exposures that different countries offer to children, children around the world may not develop in exactly the same way.
Therefore, there is a need to provide children in Singapore an assessment tool that is standardized according to how children who grow up Singapore, develop. Having this tool means having a more accurate picture of the child's development.
This process of standardizing the assessment tool is called norming. And this is what we are doing at the EIPIC Impact Study. To do this, we need to assess a sizable sample of 1400 children living in Singapore, to learn what they can or cannot do at different ages. We also need the parents to let us know more about their children through questionnaires.
Beside the children, we also want to know more about the parents. With the demands of childcare, we want to learn about the emotional well-being of parents of young children in Singapore. This, we do through parental surveys.
We hope that we have adequately communicated our visions and goals for our children in Singapore. As in any research effort, we need participants to make this a success. So if you are a parent (click here) or work with children (click here), please consider being a part of this mission to serve our children better...
